Gridserve EV Charging Station, Essex, UK
Q. HOW MIGHT PETROL STATIONS, EV CHARGING POINTS AND HYDROGEN TRUCKS INTERCONNECT IN THE VISION OF THE FUTURE FOR BRITISH TRANSPORT? WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE FUTURE OF THE ENERGY SYSTEM?
» We absolutely see that everything needs to be integrated, and whatever the market needs should be delivered. It makes sense to co‐locate it, to have it together. We have got nothing against building effective multi‐fuel stations except for the practicalities.
There are obvious constraints on putting different fuels together, so there are constraints to that, but there is nothing fundamentally stopping hydrogen being part of it.
The more different use cases you have on site, and the more different sources and demands you can manage, usually the more efficient you get. We have been rolling out the first batteries and renewable energy all connected together. That integration and control of the grid, on‐site generation, storage and charging is a big challenge in terms of everything speaking to each other.
