A taste of plastic freedom
Six Senses Ibiza, located on Xarraca Bay, was the first resort in the Balearic Islands to earn BREEAM certification. The resort uses solar and geothermal energy, which lowers its annual carbon emissions by 40 % and saves 24 million litres of water each year. By purifying and bottling water on-site, the hotel avoids using nearly one million plastic bottles annually. Its restaurants use a farm-totable approach, sourcing ingredients from the resort’ s own organic farm and from local producers across Ibiza.
Six Senses Ibiza also helps conserve nature by supporting the island’ s only hedgehog sanctuary, keeping beehives and working with Regenera Natura to plant thousands of trees around Xarraca Bay. Across all Six Senses locations, the company plans to reduce carbon emissions per occupied room by 46 % from 2019 levels by 2030. The goals for 2025 were to cut energy use by 7.2 % and reduce carbon emissions per occupied room by 8.1 %.
