Hotel Marcel runs completely on renewable energy and avoids fossil fuels. It is the first hotel in the US to earn Passive House certification for energy efficiency and air tightness, and one of fewer than a dozen in the country to achieve LEED Platinum certification. The hotel’ s retrofit added more than 1,000 solar panels and included powerover-ethernet lighting, which cut energy use by over 30 %. The restaurant offers locally sourced menus and organic wines, while kitchen scraps are turned into pet treats. Guests have access to 24 EV charging stations and an electric shuttle bus is available for airport transfers.“ Sustainability and operational efficiency have always gone hand in hand.
