THE SUSTAINABILITY INTERVIEW
Those who work at Culligan echo that belief.“ If you talk to our employees,” Christina explains,“ you’ ll hear the same two things: protecting the planet and delivering cleaner, safer water. Those two goals live in harmony here.” And for Christina, that harmony is what defines leadership in sustainability – a balance of science, empathy and action.“ We’ re lucky,” she reflects.“ Everyone here just gets it.”
Trends shaping the decade of action As 2030 approaches, Christina expects two major trends to shape the sustainability landscape: the expansion of water-related disclosure and the harmonisation of global ESG reporting standards.
“ We are seeing more frameworks ask about biodiversity and climate change and, as the focus areas mature, it will define how companies change their programmes and disclosure in the coming years.”
She also believes new regulations will help align global sustainability metrics.“ Consistency will help us all sing from the same song sheet,” she says.
The stronger those harmonies become, the better the world’ s chances of meeting 2030 climate and sustainability goals – a milestone Christina is both eager and cautious about.“ I’ m excited to see how companies communicate progress,” she says.“ Many of us have tied ourselves to that goalpost – it’ ll be fascinating to see who meets it and how.”
