WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY ‘ 24 : LAND RESTORATION & SUSTAINABILITY
World Environment Day , observed annually on 5 June , aims to increase awareness and action for environmental protection . Hosted by Saudi Arabia , the 2024 theme ‘ Our Land , Our Future ’ emphasised the intersection of land restoration , desertification and drought resilience with energy and sustainability .
WHY HAS H & M REIGNITED ROW OVER SBTI ’ S CARBON OFFSETS STANCE ?
H & M has become one of the first major firms to directly criticise the Science- Based Targets initiative for its stance on carbon offsetting . In the letter to the SBTi ’ s Board of Trustees , H & M Group ’ s Head of Sustainability Leyla Ertur writes that it “ weakens corporate climate pledges and makes real decarbonisation efforts less attractive ”.
