ARCADIS

Arcadis’ Risk and Control( ARC) framework is reshaping how the global design, engineering and consultancy group manages sustainability-related risk. The framework gives Arcadis a standard way to identify, assess and mitigate risk across its global operations.

It also anchors a set of five core sustainability themes that now underpin client work: carbon, nature, water, circularity and social impact. For Mark McKenna, Global Sustainability Director at Arcadis, the power of ARC lies in its ability to make sustainability conversations objective, data-led and repeatable. In an industry still prone to vague promises and qualitative claims, Mark has pushed for a framework that demands evidence.“ We want sustainability discussions to be neutral, datadriven and irrefutable,” Mark says.
At the heart of this approach sits what Mark describes as a crossfunctional, cross-business programme: Arcadis Future IMPACT + ™. This programme is designed to create a common framework that can be applied to any project, in any region, with any client.“ The framework provides a tangible assessment of impact that doesn’ t depend on politics or personal beliefs,” Mark explains.
By fixing attention on measurable outcomes, Mark and his team are working to shift sustainability from aspiration to accountable performance.
