What clients want, he adds, is not just a greener option, but a clear view of payback and balance-sheet implications.“ Clients don’ t want to hear‘ it’ s the right thing to do, but you’ ll wait a long time for a return’,” Mark says.“ They want to know when and how it pays back.”
When data shows that decarbonisation avoids significant future risk – such as assets becoming non-compliant or uninsurable – many are willing to accept longer payback periods.“ If we can show that avoiding stranded-asset risk will pay off in 10 years, they will often say yes,” Mark explains.
