CONSTRUCTION COMPANY: HINES ITALIA
COST: US $ 87M
NOTABLE FEATURE: INCORPORATES MORE THAN 900 TREES AND 20,000 PLANTS INTO ITS FAÇADE
Verticale, or‘ Vertical Forest’, is a pioneering example of biophilic architecture. Comprising two residential towers, the project integrates a lush vertical forest that helps absorb CO₂, reduce urban heat island effects and promote biodiversity. Its green façade serves as a living skin, naturally regulating humidity and filtering fine dust particles from the air. This integration of plant life reduces energy consumption while creating a dynamic microclimate around the building. Beyond aesthetics, Bosco Verticale showcases how architecture can actively repair environmental damage, blurring the boundaries between urban living and nature.
