CLIMATE CHANGE LEAVES THE EMPEROR PENGUIN ENDANGERED
Climate change has led the International Union for Conservation of Nature( IUCN) to list the emperor penguin as endangered, jumping two categories. These penguins depend on stable coastal“ fast” ice for breeding and moulting. Since 2016, record-low Antarctic sea ice has broken up too soon, sending entire colonies into the ocean – where chicks drown or, if they survive, freeze in their soaked feathers.
