Another initiative the company is enacting is called Clean Fuels — a response to combustion engines becoming lighter and capable of exerting higher compression ratios .
“ We ’ re looking at modifications for fuel specifications , particularly with gasoline octane ,” says Lowman . Lummus Technology , owned by McDermott through the merger with Chicago Bridge & Iron ( CBI ) in May 2018 , offers a product known as AlkyClean , which increases the octane content of gasoline . It recently won the Environmental Protection Agency ’ s President ’ s Award .
