NET ZERO
Global average temperatures exceeded 1.5C for the first time over the past 18 months, signalling that we are not on track to achieve the goals set out in the Paris Agreement.
In the same time frame, however, there was also a sharp increase in companies adopting science-based climate targets as they work towards a net zero future.
These targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative( SBTi), a corporate climate action organisation which helps corporations align their climate ambitions with the scientific consensus needed to prevent a devastating global temperature rise.
At the end of Q2 2025, the number of companies with validated net zero targets trebled in comparison to the end of 2023, resulting in sciencebased targets covering more than 40 % of global market capitalisation and a quarter of global revenue.
