RENEWABLE LOGISTICS TAKES FLIGHT
Radia’ s WindRunner is revolutionising the transportation of large wind turbine blades. Traditional roads only support blades up to about 70 meters long due to infrastructure constraints, while future blades exceed 100 meters, making ground transport impractical.
The WindRunner, the world’ s largest aircraft by cargo volume – 10 times bigger than a 777 – can carry blades up to 105 meters long and land on unpaved, semi-prepared airstrips around 1,800 meters long. This capability allows direct delivery of oversized turbine components to remote and previously inaccessible wind farm sites, bypassing the need for complex and costly road transport logistics and expanding the renewable energy sector’ s reach.
