Depending on the climate, operators can rely on dry or air-based cooling for much of the year and transition to water-assisted cooling during the hottest periods, improving both water and energy efficiency.
The biggest efficiency gains come from optimising the entire cooling system. Related, the greatest sustainability gains come from optimising the entire thermal chain. Integrating cold plates, CDUs and heat rejection from the chip level to the external environment will reduce both water and power consumption while maintaining reliability and performance.
“The biggest mistake is focusing solely on upfront cost instead of lifecycle cost”
