Climate change as material priority Airbus has completed its yearly Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive exercise, which Julie describes as challenging but valuable. Its double materiality assessment identified climate change as the most material topic for the company.
Headquartered in Toulouse, where temperatures have recently exceeded 40 ° C, Julie says climate change brings new challenges for both adaptation and mitigation.
“ Adaptation means we need to build business resilience,” Julie reveals.“ We need to further build business resilience with respect to energy supplies, energy usage, with respect to water consumption, [ and ] how we think about our decarbonisation journey.”
The broader industry sector relies on several levers for decarbonisation, with fleet renewal being the first and most significant.
