Magazine is the latest of many for Novartis, which has gained a global reputation for its sustainability efforts. It was named one of the World’ s Most Sustainable Companies by TIME and Statista in 2025 and made it into Newsweek’ s World’ s Greenest Companies, receiving a 5-star rating for its environmental efforts. Its carbon reduction targets are stretching, aiming to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90 % by 2040. In 2024, it had already achieved a 71 % reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions against 2016. Novartis talks about sustainability as“ a mindset” throughout the business, from creating medicines with low environmental impact to expanding healthcare access. Novartis is recognised as a supply chain sustainability leader, with a repeat“ A” rating from CDP for supplier engagement on climate change. In August 2025, it received the highest possible AAA rating in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.
