Sandy has been overseeing sustainability strategy , corporate stakeholder engagement , and yearly performance reporting for American Electric Power for about 25 years .

Susan is a senior sustainability strategist with over 20 years of experience working on international , corporate , and human rights issues domestically and in Asia , Europe , and NA .

Starting her work at Australia Post in 2015 , she went on to be named the company ' s first CSO in 2019 . She is now leading the organisation ' s science-based efforts to reach Net Zero and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals .

She has held the position of Chair of the Sustainability Advisory Committee for the Australian Retailer Association since 2021 . Susan obtained a master ' s in Management and in International Relations & Asian Politics Supply Chain .

Before joining AEP in 2006 , Nessing oversaw corporate communications for Yankee Energy System and Yankee Gas Services Company , which are now part of Eversource . She started out in public relations and broadcast journalism , after graduating from Southington , Connecticut ' s former Briarwood College .

She is a multifaceted , high-performing leader with a track record of success in stakeholder engagement , enterprise sustainability , planning , directing , implementing , and managing cultural change , and also chairs AEP ’ s Enterprise Sustainability Council and ESG team .
