Yumi Otsuka joined Toyota Motor Corporation ( TMC ) in April 1992 the same year she earned her bachelor ' s degree in law from Osaka University .

Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Gayle is in charge of developing , launching , and implementing 3M ' s global sustainability strategy across the entire 3M company . These initiatives cover a wide range of fascinating technical and commercial fields , from improvements in safety and healthcare to electrification of vehicles and intelligent transportation .

Gayle is recognised as a positive change agent at the crossroads of technology and business leadership . She has spoken at the United Nations , the World Business Council for Sustainable Development , Sustainable Brands , Net Impact , Corporate Eco Forum , The Conference Board Sustainability Council ( TCB ), and other international conferences on innovation and sustainability .

She was named a fellow in the department of sustainable management and the deputy chief sustainability officer in 2020 . She then received a promotion to chief sustainability officer and operations officer in June 2021 , where she oversees the department of sustainability management .
