We know there is a fundamental disconnect between supply and demand at a high-quality mark in the industry. When you look at the total amount of supply available today versus what’ s called high quality, where the corporates are really centring, only 18 % of today’ s actual supply meets those criteria.
“ There’ s already a supply-demand imbalance. So that gives them access and confidence in that. It gives us greater stability as a business, so we can continue to invest. And it’ s that cycle that you want to build.
“ Fundamentally, as in India, we’ re working with small landowner farmers. It’ s the consistency of funding for them, which is one of the reasons I love this market.
“ We’ re talking about real financial flows and returns, but we’ re actually enabling potentially generational change on the ground.”
CIP wants to tackle the shortage of high-quality carbon credits. Sheri hopes that growing standardised projects with long-term supporters will help to scale the carbon market.
