THE SUSTAINABILITY INTERVIEW
Recognised excellence at COP30 The SB COP30 Award, awarded just before the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference( COP30), represents a milestone in Schneider Electric’ s decades-long sustainability journey. COP30, hosted in Belém, Brazil, focused on delivering the Paris Agreement’ s long-term commitments to limit warming to 1.5 ° C.
For Schneider Electric, the recognition validates a two-year effort to scale impact across its global ecosystem. The company was selected for its whole-value-chain approach – addressing not only its own operations but also suppliers, customers and industry partners.
“ Many organisations focus on their direct emissions,” Sorouch explains.“ Very few look at their entire value chain – from upstream suppliers to downstream customers. We do so because it’ s the right thing for the industry and for the planet.”
The COP award framework specifically sought projects with proven results, not just ambitions. As Sorouch reveals, the evaluation process required live business cases and measurable performance data.
“ They didn’ t want to hear about ideas,” he says.“ They wanted evidence – actions that have happened, outcomes that can be replicated.”
