Formula One is enormously influential, not just in the automotive industry but also in culture. This is, in part, because the cars command respect. Sylvain explains:“ You look at a car like that, and you know what it can do.” If Formula E can develop a similar perception, it could change what everyday drivers choose.“ Then you’ ll get people driving around in electric cars, and they’ ll not only know it’ s the right thing to do, but they’ ll be super proud of their car,” Sylvain says.
With influence like this, Envision Racing’ s messaging on sustainability could reach further too. The team views its mission as amplification. For the sustainability community already convinced about renewable energy, Formula E provides a megaphone. For traditional motorsport fans, it offers an interesting alternative. Sylvain explains:“ The combination of sport and the passion and the reach it brings, along with this storytelling, we hope is a powerful lever to move the needle and get people excited about sustainability.”
