Meet Aseem, Scrum Master at Ørsted in Denmark
Ørsted is widely recognised as a pioneer in building green skills through its rapid transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, especially offshore wind. The company’ s shift from coal and gas to wind, solar and renewable hydrogen has created strong demand for new capabilities in engineering, digital, environmental and community engagement roles. This has pushed Ørsted to invest heavily in upskilling its workforce, partnering with local education providers and industry bodies to grow a pipeline of green talent.
A key focus is empowering communities around major projects, such as UK offshore wind hubs, where local training and apprenticeships help workers move from declining industries into long‐term green careers. Ørsted also backs targeted programmes to bring experienced professionals back into STEM and energy roles, helping to close critical green skills gaps. At the same time, the company promotes agile, data‐driven ways of working so employees can apply digital and analytical skills to optimise renewable assets and cut emissions. Through these efforts, Ørsted not only builds the skills it needs to run on almost 100 % green energy, but also strengthens the broader workforce needed for the global energy transition.
