THE MITIE COBOT ARMY SWEEPING INTO HEATHROW

More than 84 million travellers are expected to pass through Heathrow Airport in 2025.

Most are unlikely to be focusing on much more than the arrivals and departures boards, the duty free, security and the shops.

But they may notice something new – 32 automated cleaning robots that are working quietly on the terminal floors alongside human staff.

Brought in by facilities management firm Mitie, these“ cobots”, short for collaborative robots, make up the largest deployment of autonomous cleaning robots at any UK site.
