HITACHI ENERGY
BRUNO, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOUR ROLE I am the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Transformers Business Unit at Hitachi Energy. Since October 2019, I’ ve had the privilege of leading our global Transformers portfolio, driving innovation and operational excellence. With nearly three decades of experience – including leadership roles in Medium-Voltage and Low-Voltage Breakers and Switches – I bring deep industry expertise and a strong commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
CAN YOU SHARE EXAMPLES OF HOW HITACHI ENERGY’ S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY SHAPES DECISION-MAKING AND OPERATIONS? Bruno – Our commitment to sustainability starts with our dedication to understanding the environmental impacts of our activities. This includes both upstream and downstream perspectives based on the latest science, providing us with the foundation to make informed decisions.
Several examples in our business exemplify this commitment, shaping our decision-making. For example, in the Transformers business, our capital investment process now involves an analysis of associated carbon emissions, with the objective of eliminating or minimising them.
Our supply chain management process includes an evaluation of our supplier’ s sustainability performance, including external ratings and risk mitigation exercises. Our product design gate process includes mandatory checks on eco-design considerations to reduce environmental impacts. The use of environmental Life Cycle Assessments( LCAs) is promoted for quantifying the impact of our products.
“Our commitment to sustainability starts with our dedication to understanding the environmental impacts of our activities”
