Namita joined Hitachi Energy in 2021, having previously worked in leadership communications roles at Hitachi Energy’ s predecessor. She holds a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Delhi University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University( Division of Continuing Education).
NAMITA, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND YOUR ROLE I like to think of myself as a sustainability practitioner and leader. For a business enterprise, this entails enhancing sustainability throughout the business value stream.
I am the Head of Sustainability for Hitachi Energy’ s Transformers business. My role requires developing the business sustainability priorities and having the common threads of these running through all parts of our organisation e. g., technology and portfolio development, supply chain management, operations and marketing and sales.
WHAT IMPACTFUL STEPS HAVE HITACHI ENERGY TAKEN TO REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS AND PROMOTE CIRCULARITY IN TRANSFORMER MANUFACTURING AND THROUGHOUT THE PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE? Namita – Hitachi Energy is committed to deploying industry-leading practices to decarbonise its operations. As part of this commitment, we have set an ambitious target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 80 % by 2030, using 2019 as the reference year.
The remaining emissions will be offset through investments in high-quality carbon credits. By the end of the 2023 financial year,
