As part of its PepsiCo Positive( pep +) strategy, PepsiCo has made commitments and progress in sustainable and regenerative agriculture. By 2030, it aims to implement regenerative farming practices across 10 million acres globally to roughly match the company’ s entire agricultural sourcing footprint.
In Iowa, US, PepsiCo is working with Cargill to expand regenerative practices across 240,000 acres of farmland by 2030. The collaboration focuses on the companies’ shared corn supply in the state. Iowa is the US’ s largest producer of corn, contributing to more than 15 % of the nation’ s supply.
“ By working with farmers to understand what’ s best for their farms and partnering across the supply chain we can accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices that can result in healthier soil, reduced emissions and improved crop yields and livelihoods for farmers,” says Jim Andrew, PepsiCo’ s Chief Sustainability Officer.“ This collaboration among PepsiCo, Cargill and Practical Farmers of Iowa creates shared value and longterm sustainability that we believe will strengthen our business today and in the future.” sustainabilitymag. com 125
