Diageo integrates sustainable agriculture into its global supply chain through regenerative farming programmes that enhance soil health, biodiversity and water management. In India, the beverage giant supports more than 220 smallholder rice farmers using techniques like alternate wetting and drying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 39 % and water use by 34 %.
In Scotland and Mexico, Diageo’ s regenerative initiatives target barley, wheat and agave farming, aiming to cut carbon emissions, improve soil structure, and bolster farmer resilience against climate change. These efforts align with Diageo’ s Spirit of Progress 2030 plan, aiming for net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and fostering sustainable sourcing while supporting farming communities.
“ As we commit to continued investment in long term business growth, we’ re excited to expand our regenerative farming work,” says Ewan Andrew, President of Global Supply Chain & Procurement and Chief Sustainability Officer.
“ The Scotch Whisky and Tequila brands have such a strong connection to their local communities, and as we build increased resilience and productivity across our end-toend supply chains, we are building broader partnerships to enhance the impact of regenerative farming practices at scale.”
