“ I think we’ re probably still underestimating the fact that a new sustainable aviation fuel market or industry will bring a huge amount of new jobs,” Julie reveals.“ This means economic value, local development, and potentially the emergence of new businesses.”
Ecosystem of ecosystems The aviation industry requires input from a broad ecosystem to achieve its decarbonisation goals. Airbus cannot accomplish this transformation alone and needs players across the industry to work together.
“ The ecosystem as we knew it many years ago has fundamentally shifted now as we think about sustainability,” Julie continues.“ And we almost need an ecosystem of ecosystems to really make it impactful – Airbus can’ t do that alone.”
Collaboration extends across customers, consumers, industry partners, suppliers, governments and regulatory bodies. This whole spectrum is what makes the challenge complex and potentially slower, but also more impactful.
“ As the proverb says, if you want to go fast, you go alone,” Julie says.“ And if you want to go further, you go together. I’ m very optimistic that we’ ll get there.”
