Airbus’ internal sustainability roadmap Airbus is also looking at its internal emissions and social impact. Its‘ High Five Plus’ plan focuses on reducing energy consumption and therefore Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The programme also targets water consumption, waste reduction and air emissions.
Sustainability for Airbus extends beyond decarbonisation and climate change. The company’ s core values include safety, quality, integrity, compliance and security, with much of the sustainability portfolio fulfilling these pillars. Furthermore, the portfolio of the Airbus products and services connects the world and protects citizens.“ There is no sustainability without security, and no security without sustainability,” adds Julie.
Social aspects are key, with a code of conduct that determines company behaviours around ethics and compliance. The company focuses on employee safety, product safety and product security, including cyber security.
Respecting inclusion, diversity and human rights forms part of the broader sustainability agenda. Julie chairs the Airbus Foundation, which operates across humanitarian, environmental and youth education pillars, particularly in STEM subjects.
Sustainability team structure Julie leads the sustainability function with the team structured into three main pillars. The first covers sustainability roadmaps, including environmental and social value roadmaps.
