We have met the challenge by creating sophisticated on-site transformer refurbishment and testing conditions. Manufacturing a new transformer creates environmental impacts, including carbon emissions, primarily from the extraction, processing and transportation of raw materials. In contrast, refurbishing an existing transformer can reuse between 60 % and 90 % of its components, including the core, tank and dielectric fluid. Overall, there can be a significant reduction in carbon footprint.
